JOB LOCATION: NASA Langley Research Center, VA

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Rothe is seeking a Multimedia Producer Editor Writer to provide create various multimedia content for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate and Space Technology Mission Directorate in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM). From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing engaging videos, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world.   • Develop engaging original multimedia content for NASA’s SMD and STMD missions and projects. Products include, but are not limited to, video formatted for social media channels, video news releases, and live video programming for social media.
  • Participate in strategy, creative planning, concepting, and visual direction for communications projects.
  • Producer, edit, and write for multimedia products customized based on distribution platform. To include short- and long-form projects.
  • Write and create accurate, effective and engaging video assets, for social media distribution.
  • Use data analytics to help understand performance and trends in audience consumption.
  • Keep abreast of new skills and developments in multimedia storytelling.
  • An active part of live production teams able to support productions and live news media events.
  • Assist mentoring interns.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in video/film production, journalism, communications, science communication, broadcast journalism or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in video editing, writing for video and overall video production (i.e., pitching, writing scripts, operating cameras, creating motion graphics, editing and narrating)
Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong interest in science and expertise in transforming complex subject matter into public-friendly products.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, One Drive), SharePoint, and Box.
  • Excellent editorial judgement, solid copy writing for a wide variety of multimedia formats, and a track record of spotting opportunities to tell engaging stories that resonate with audiences.
  • Experience with tools such as: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition.
  • Experience operating video cameras such as Canon DSLR and Blackmagic Ursa Mini.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with creative and technical teams to develop engaging visual content.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (X, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram) and how to optimize content for each platform.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and support projects beyond multimedia production, including live events.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work with other producers at the agency to collaborate on missions and projects.
  • US citizenship or permanent resident status.

  • Experience working with scientists and engineers, creating stories from their work.
