Position Summary

BQMI is seeking a Multimedia Communications Specialist to support the Corporate Communications Department at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. This position is ideal for a creative visual communicator with experience in photography, videography, graphic design, and written communications. The Multimedia Communications Specialist will enhance NSWC Crane’s internal and external presence through compelling multimedia storytelling, strategic messaging, and support for high-visibility events, branding initiatives, and command-level communications.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Content Development

  • Execute strategic communications initiatives supporting NSWC Crane’s internal and external messaging priorities.
  • Contribute to communications strategies and visibility campaigns aligned with command objectives.
  • Write, edit, and proofread articles for internal publications and external media outlets.
  • Develop press releases, media pitches, fact sheets, background materials, and media kits.
  • Support proactive media relations efforts in coordination with the Corporate Communications team.

Multimedia Production, Photography & Videography

  • Capture high-quality photography and videography for events, mission activities, leadership engagements, and workforce storytelling.
  • Produce multimedia products incorporating video, audio, photography, motion graphics, and visual design elements.
  • Support storyboarding, script development, filming, editing, captioning, and final product delivery.
  • Maintain organized photo, video, and multimedia asset archives in accordance with configuration management standards.

Visual Design & Branding

  • Design branded visual products, including:
    • Business and technical briefings
    • Banners, posters, brochures, and exhibits
    • Web graphics and digital signage
    • Covers, presentations, and recruitment materials
  • Provide recommendations on concept development, layout, visual storytelling, and production techniques.
  • Manage projects from initial concept through final production, including proofs, revisions, and final deliverables.

Digital & Social Media Support

  • Support NSWC Crane’s approved social media platforms, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, Flickr, LinkedIn, and others as authorized.
  • Create visual and written content, schedule posts, monitor engagement, and recommend campaign strategies.
  • Maintain and update content for:
  • NSWC Crane News website
  • SharePoint intranet and DISA web platforms
  • Digital signage and iNFUSIONtools
  • Track, analyze, and report engagement metrics and communications outputs.

Project & Production Management

  • Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant delivery of communications products.
  • Manage multiple concurrent production projects while meeting government timelines and requirements.
  • Independently research, develop, and coordinate content as needed.
  • Develop consolidated reports, metrics dashboards, and command operations support materials.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Communications, Visual Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in multimedia production, including photography, videography, and visual storytelling.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or comparable design and production tools.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for internal and external communications.
  • Experience supporting websites, social media platforms, and digital content management systems.
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently from concept through completion.
  • Experience working in a professional, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, U.S. Navy, or federal government communications.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and government web content standards.
  • Professional photography and videography experience, particularly in event or operational environments.
  • Knowledge of branding, media relations, and strategic communications campaigns.
