Job description

Department:                    Operations Support
Location:                         114-15 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard, Jamaica, NY 11434
Position Title:                   Buses Operations Support, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate:                    $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate)
 
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
 
 
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Baisley Park Bus Depot is part of MTA New York City Transit’s Department of Buses, providing safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to the riding public. Our primary mission is to deliver consistent bus service that connects communities across New York City. The depot operates through a coordinated effort primarily between Transportation, Maintenance and Safety. Our Transportation team ensures that buses are dispatched on time and service is delivered as scheduled, while our Maintenance team is responsible for keeping the fleet safe, clean, and in a state of good repair through regular inspections, servicing, and repairs.

We are committed to safety, customer service, and operational excellence. Every day, our team works to ensure that riders have a dependable transit experience, while maintaining a safe work environment for employees and upholding the standards of New York City Transit.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with running and updating daily and weekly service reports.
  • Support scheduling and tracking of bus service activities.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team to ensure records are current.
  • Help track bus availability and readiness for service.
  • Observe morning service rollout and depot operations.
  • Attend maintenance and operations meetings.
  • Take notes and document key discussion points and action items.
  • Perform light administrative tasks, including filing and organizing documents
 
PROJECTS:
  • Service Reporting Support Project.
     
  • Maintenance Coordination and Tracking Project.
     
  • Morning Operations Observation and Process Improvement Project.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
 
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
  • Major(s) Preferred: Open to all majors, or related field.
