Department:                     Business Partners - NYCT Buses 
Location:                          25 Jamaica Avenue, Brooklyn, NY  11207
Position Title:                   Human Resources Business Partner, Emerging Talent Intern (Fall)
Hourly Rate:                     $19.00 (Undergraduate)
 
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
 
 
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The MTA’s People Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Human Resource Business Partner team supporting NYC Transit Buses and MTA Bus Company. The internship offers hands-on experience in HR operations, workforce data analysis, and employee engagement initiatives. You will work alongside experienced HR Business Partners who are responsible for implementing People (HR) strategies, talent management programs, and day-to-day HR solutions for one of the largest transportation organizations in the world. You’ll join a team that values innovation, inclusion, and learning through meaningful experiences.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process candidate documentation and assist in onboarding activities.
  • Support HRBPs in reviewing work authorization documents. 
  • Maintain accurate trackers for work authorization expiration dates.
  • Contribute to HR projects focus on employee engagement, culture and communication. 
  • Help maintain HR databases and files with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support analysis of employee data to identify workforce trends.
  • Provide administrative assistance to ensure progress on ongoing HR initiatives.
  • Participate in internal communication efforts and event planning. 
  •     Assist with special projects as assigned. 
 
PROJECTS:
  • ServiceNow (HR Case Management).
  • Work Authorizations.
  • Assistance with contingent employee onboarding. 
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and applying HR practices
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
 
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
  • Major(s) Preferred: Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Project Management, Data Analytics/Business Analytics, or related field.
