Summary
This position is located at Fort Stewart Pools, Fort Stewart, GA. This vacancy is for multiple Aquatic facilities located on Fort Stewart, GA. Working evenings, weekends, and holidays are required.

Duties
Help
  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • The incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Must have current health assessment that documents good physical health, free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Lifeguards must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either (with glasses or contact) or uncorrected) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Fifteen (15) year old lifeguards must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
  • All required certifications must be kept current.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Possesses and maintains the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED).
Certifications must be uploaded at the time of application.

  • This job is open to candidates who are located in the local community area. (Within a 50-mile radius of Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, GA). Allowances and Differentials

  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.

Incentives!
  • Earn up to $1,000 in cash awards this season for meeting shift-coverage goals that help keep our pools open and fully staffed.
  • $500 for working 70% of available shifts through 2 August with no documented conduct or attendance issues.
  • $500 for working 70% of available weekend shifts from 8 August-1 November with no documented conduct or attendance issues.
  • Incentives may be authorized in accordance with AR 672-20 and are not guaranteed. These are not recruitment or retention bonuses under AR 215-3.
