Role Overview
The Program Director - US GAAP is responsible for leading large-scale finance transformation programs aligned with US GAAP accounting standards. This role provides strategic leadership across cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and successful implementation of accounting and reporting systems. The Program Director will partner with Finance, IT, Risk, and business stakeholders to deliver complex initiatives impacting financial close, reporting, and controls.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead end-to-end US GAAP transformation programs, including financial reporting, accounting policy implementation, and system modernization
• Drive program strategy, roadmap, and execution aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with Finance leadership (Controller, CFO organization) to ensure adherence to US GAAP standards and reporting requirements
• Oversee implementation of finance platforms (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Financials, Workday Finance, etc.)
• Manage multi-million-dollar program budgets, timelines, risks, and dependencies
• Establish governance frameworks, including steering committees, reporting cadence, and escalation processes
• Ensure compliance with SOX controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards
• Lead cross-functional teams across Finance, IT, Data, and Operations
• Drive financial close transformation, reconciliation, consolidation, and reporting improvements
• Oversee data migration, data quality, and financial data integrity initiatives
• Manage vendor relationships, system integrators, and third-party partners
• Provide regular executive-level updates and program reporting
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred)
• 15+ years of experience in finance transformation, program management, or enterprise initiatives
• Strong knowledge of:
o US GAAP accounting standards
o Financial reporting processes (close, consolidation, statutory reporting)
• Proven experience delivering large-scale programs in:
o Finance transformation
o ERP implementation (SAP, Oracle, Workday)
• Experience with SOX compliance, audit readiness, and internal controls frameworks
• Strong leadership experience managing global teams and large portfolios
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including interaction with C-level executives
• Strong risk management, governance, and decision-making capabilities
Preferred Skills
• Exposure to IFRS (for global reporting environments)
• Experience in Insurance or Banking finance transformation
• Knowledge of:
o IFRS 17 / LDTI (for insurance organizations)
o Financial planning & analysis (FP&A) integration
• Experience with data platforms, analytics, and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• Certifications:
o CPA / CA (highly preferred)
o PMP / PgMP
