Position Summary
Mortgage Consultants play a crucial role in guiding clients through the mortgage application process, ensuring they receive the best possible financing options for their home purchases. They collaborate closely with clients, real estate agents, and the Operations team to facilitate smooth and efficient transactions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients to understand their financial situation, needs, and goals. Provide expert advice on mortgage products and options.
  • Loan Application: Assist clients in completing mortgage applications, gathering necessary documentation, and submitting applications to lenders.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on current mortgage rates, market trends, and lending practices to provide clients with accurate and relevant information.
  • Compliance: Ensure all mortgage transactions comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service throughout the mortgage process, addressing client inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Networking: Build and maintain relationships with real estate agents, lenders, and other industry professionals to generate referrals and expand business opportunities.
  • Engage: Join branch office sales meetings to educate agents on mortgage financing. Follow SCMS best practice guidelines to maximize all opportunities.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage origination highly preferred. Current NMLS State or Federal NMLS Registration required.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • In-depth knowledge of mortgage banking processes and regulations.
    • Proficiency in mortgage software, CRM systems, and MS Office Suite.
    • Exceptional communication and people skills.

Work Context
Employees in this position are in branch offices and meet with clients at varying locations. Mortgage consultants also communicate with clients during evening and weekend hours.
