Big O Tires: General Service Technician IIThe GST II Technician is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis,, repair, and installation of mechanical services such as brakes, drive-line suspension systems, wheel alignments, and oil changes. All services must be performed in accordance with Big O Tire's policies, procedures, and quality standards. The technician also calibrates and maintains mechanical equipment, assists retail employees in cleaning and maintaining the retail store and its perimeter, drives customer vehicles in and out of the shop area, and conducts road tests. During peak periods, the technician installs, balances, and repairs tires as needed. Consistent demonstration of high-quality work and customer service is required.
Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed company performance standards for quality to our customers.
  • Install and repair brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmissions and drive axles, tune-ups, diagnostics, vehicle preventative maintenance, oil changes, alignments, and related services.
  • Identify and troubleshoot using diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections for mechanical services. Detect and note any conditions affecting vehicle safety and report these to the service manager or store manager.
  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair machinery to ensure an efficient and safe work environment.
  • Perform diagnostics for ride complaints.
  • Document work performed on each vehicle in the repair order.
  • Conduct multi-point inspections on every vehicle serviced.
  • Maintain a high level of compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Installation, balancing, and repair of tires as needed.
  • Perform road tests to confirm that work has been completed correctly.
  • Adhere to all safety practices as outlined in company policy and procedures.

Job Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least eighteen years old.
  • Strong customer service skills and a high level of professional integrity are required.
  • Must possess a valid California in-state motor vehicle license.
  • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in the diagnostics and repair of brakes, steering and suspension systems, transmissions, and drive axles.
  • At least one ASE certification at the time of hire is preferred. Ability to earn and/or maintain certifications after hire is required.
  • Experience in the installation, balancing, and repair of tires.
  • Frequent lifting of weights between 20-50 pounds, frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, continuous squatting, reaching, walking, and standing are required.
  • No tools are required for this position.
