GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Want to put your people skills and sales experience to use in a unique way? Meet people from all over the country and the world. If so, join the Wyoming State Parks team for a summer of new experiences at Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site! Situated twenty miles south of Sheridan, Fort Phil Kearny narrates the dramatic story of Red Cloud's War, 1866 fort life, the Bozeman Trail, and how they were all intertwined. The site is seeking enthusiastic individuals to work in the interpretive center, educating the public and handling bookstore sales. One position may also include working outside to help with groundskeeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Seasonal Fee Duties:
  • Greet visitors, collect admission fees, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by answering visitors' questions and providing an educational interpretation of the site.
  • Handle monetary transactions, which include fee collection, weekly fee reports, and bookstore sales and ordering.
  • Responsible for cash register reconciliation.
  • Responsible for restocking bookstore shelves and tracking inventory.
  • Assist with general administrative duties, reports, and data entry.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, and cleaning as needed.
  • Assist all Absaroka District sites with special projects and events.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
For all seasonal positions, preference will be given to applicants who are professional and have excellent customer service skills.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
**Must be at least 18 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in completing assignments/tasks.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with visitors from different cultures.
  • Willingness to work on a variety of assignments every day.
  • Experience in handling money, cash registers, and retail sales.
  • Ability to handle multiple groups of visitors at once.
  • Capability to learn and retain information quickly.
  • Ability to manage and complete projects with variable timelines and scopes of work.
