How does a home stager make money?

A home stager makes money by charging clients for designing and arranging furniture, decor, and accessories to enhance a property's appeal. They may charge a flat fee, hourly rate, or a percentage of the property's sale price, and some also earn commissions from furniture rentals or sales. Successful stagers often build a portfolio and develop relationships with real estate agents to secure ongoing work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Model Home Stager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Model Home Stager, you need a strong eye for interior design, spatial planning, and a good understanding of current market trends, often supported by a degree or coursework in design or related fields. Familiarity with design software (such as SketchUp or AutoCAD), furniture sourcing platforms, and sometimes a home staging certification is highly beneficial. Excellent communication, creativity, and project management skills help you effectively collaborate with realtors, homeowners, and vendors while meeting deadlines. These abilities ensure that properties are presented in their best light, attracting buyers and maximizing the home's market value.

What are some common challenges faced when staging model homes, and how can they be effectively addressed?

One of the most common challenges in model home staging is appealing to a broad range of potential buyers while creating an inviting, memorable space. This requires balancing current design trends with timeless elements and ensuring the home feels warm but not overly personalized. Budget constraints and tight timelines can also add pressure, as stagers must source furniture and decor efficiently. Collaborating closely with real estate agents and builders is essential to align staging with marketing strategies and target demographics. Staying organized and adaptable helps overcome these challenges and ensures each model home stands out in a competitive market.

Model Home Staging focuses on preparing new or model homes for sale, often working with developers and builders. Home Stagers work on a broader range of residential properties, including existing homes for individual clients. While both roles require similar skills and certifications, their work environments and target audiences differ significantly.

What is model home staging?

Model home staging is the process of furnishing and decorating a newly built or empty home to make it look attractive to potential buyers. Professional stagers use furniture, artwork, and accessories to highlight the home's best features and help buyers visualize themselves living there. This can make the property feel more welcoming and can often lead to faster sales and higher offers. Staging is commonly used by home builders and real estate agents to maximize a home's appeal.

How to get hired as a home stager?

To get hired as a home stager, develop a strong portfolio showcasing your design skills and knowledge of current trends. Gaining experience through internships or assisting established stagers, obtaining relevant certifications, and understanding home decor and furniture arrangement can improve your chances of employment in the field.

What jobs pay 700 a day?

Model home staging jobs typically do not pay $700 a day unless they involve high-end properties or specialized projects that require extensive skills and experience. Most freelance or contract staging professionals may earn higher rates for large or luxury homes, but daily earnings vary based on project scope, location, and client budgets. High-paying staging jobs often require a strong portfolio and industry connections.

How much do stagers get paid?

Model home stagers typically earn between $20 and $100 per hour, depending on experience, location, and project scope. Some stagers charge flat fees for entire staging projects, which can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. Compensation may also include commissions or bonuses for high-value properties.

About Vesta Home

Vesta Home (operating as Showroom Group) is revolutionizing the home marketing and furniture sales industries. Our full-service offeringsโ€”which include interior design, luxury staging, elevated furniture rentals, and custom furniture productionโ€”are all driven by our proprietary technology and logistics expertise, ensuring an exceptional client experience.

Established in 2017, our team of over 50 designers creates sophisticated, beautiful interiors for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects globally. We are proud partners with top realtors, developers, the design trade, and high-profile individuals on some of the most exclusive properties in the high-end market. Our work has been featured in major design magazines and popular shows such as Bravo's Million Dollar Listings and Netflix's Selling Sunset.

As the leading home staging brand in the country, Vesta leverages its deep design and local market knowledge in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and South Florida to help sell multimillion-dollar properties faster and above the asking price, allowing buyers to seamlessly move into beautifully furnished spaces.

Our Core Values
  • Safety First: We believe every person goes home the way they arrived. Safety is not a compliance checkbox โ€” it is the standard by which we evaluate every decision.
  • Ownership: We hold ourselves accountable. At Vesta Home, ownership means you donโ€™t wait to be asked โ€” you see what needs to happen and you do it.
  • Get it done!: We have a bias toward action, balancing grit with smart work to accomplish our goals. We see business challenges as opportunities, always bringing forth solutions, and believe no challenge is too great to solve collectively.
  • Design excellence: We believe exceptional design is a function of continuous improvement, and apply this purity of purpose to our process, products and people.
  • Execute in partnership, and with pride: We rise by lifting others and are most successful when our clients and colleagues are successful as well. Our team is self-motivated and committed to leading others to achieve our collective goals.
  • Invest in growth: We approach business with an entrepreneurial spirit. We are intensely focused on progress, believing profitable growth is the path forward. We โ€œinvest, not spend,โ€ valuing impact and the efficient achievement of results.
  • Own the Outcome: We develop the most talented people, empowering them to offer a world-class experience to our clients. We deliver inspiring design in a reliable, organized and consistent manner that our clients and team can trust. We do this with a fanatical attention to detail, expecting perfection but accepting excellence.
Position Overview

The Regional Safety Manager is a senior, field-level safety leader who owns all workplace safety and workersโ€™ compensation outcomes across their assigned coast (East or West) โ€” including all Vesta Home and Showroom Interiors locations, acquired companies, and partner facilities within that geography.

The Regional Safety Manager spends significant time on the floor and in the field, acts as the primary safety authority across their region, and is a direct driver of the companyโ€™s Safety Program. They carry responsibility for the programโ€™s active milestones, including key pillars in incident reporting, return-to-work, claims management, safety training, and compliance.

The Regional Safety Manager serves as the senior escalation point for all safety and workersโ€™ compensation matters in their region. They report directly to the Director of Safety & Continuous Improvement (CI).

Location Requirement: Applicants must be located in New York (NY), Florida (FL), or California (CA) to be considered for this position.

Salary: This position offers a base salary of $75,000, plus a target bonus.

Key ResponsibilitiesRegional Safety Leadership & Floor Presence
  • Maintain full safety ownership across all regional locations โ€” warehouses, showrooms, field operations, and acquired facilities โ€” through regular scheduled walkthroughs and unannounced site visits.

  • Maintain complete, defensible claim files for every open case; identify unusual patterns such as late reporting, post-termination filings, or repeated claimants and escalate appropriately.
  • Lead strategy on high-value or litigated claims in coordination with outside counsel, HR, and the Director of Safety & CI; conduct independent file reviews targeting aging and high-reserve cases.
  • Track and report structurally elevated cost items โ€” including reserve levels, litigation posture, and EMR impact โ€” on a quarterly basis.
Pre-Loss Documentation & Legal Defense
  • Maintain injury attestations, JHA acknowledgments, and Evidence Defense Packets for all claims.
  • Lead rapid response for serious incidents and use ISO ClaimSearch to screen for fraud.

  • Collaborate with CI to archive regional training, forklift, and PPE inventory data.
  • Provide regional metrics to the Director of Safety & CI monthly for C-suite dashboards.
  • Supply accurate claim and lag-time data for actuarial EMR projections.
  • Prepare data for carrier reviews and support standalone workers' comp transitions.
Supervisor Training & Safety Culture
  • Train all leadership in your region on the Golden Hour card, incident documentation, modified duty processes, and HSI reporting requirements.
  • Embed safety KPIs into operations manager performance conversations; partner with the Director of Safety & CI on accountability structures.
  • Build peer-to-peer safety observation capability across your region.

These duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work and are not an exhaustive list. The employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in safety, EHS, workersโ€™ compensation, or operations risk โ€” with at least 2 years in a multi-site or regional capacity.

  • Deep familiarity with Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA requirements: IIPP, heat illness prevention, hazard communication, recordkeeping.

  • Comfortable spending the majority of your time in the field โ€” warehouses, logistics facilities, showrooms.
  • Exceptional organizational discipline: clean records, complete files, no documentation gaps.
  • Strong communicator across all levels โ€” warehouse crew, supervisors, outside counsel, insurance adjusters, and C-suite leadership.
  • Proven ability to develop and roll out safety training programs, SOPs, and onboarding frameworks.
  • Ability to manage a regional on-call safety line and respond to urgent incidents outside business hours when needed.
Preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English โ€” strongly preferred for West Coast markets.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry card.
  • Prior experience with Helmsman, Liberty Mutual, or Sedgwick as a TPA.
  • Experience with HSI, Samsara, or Dash by Foley platforms.
  • Experience leading safety integration for acquired businesses or multi-brand environments.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ARM (Associate in Risk Management) designation.
  • Familiarity with NY workersโ€™ comp requirements and CA mental stress presumption laws.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with regional leadership scope and experience.
  • Performance-based bonus tied to regional safety KPIs and 3-Year Safety Program milestones.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Vehicle allowance or mileage reimbursement for regional travel.
  • Company-provided mobile phone and laptop.
  • Professional development budget: OSHA certifications, safety conferences, continuing education.
