Job Description
Join a mission driven team working to ensure every family in our community has access to fresh, healthy food. The YMCA is seeking a part-time, Food Access Assistant-Mobile Market Leader to support our Mobile Market, a mobile food pantry that brings groceries directly to neighborhoods across our region. This position is part of our Food Program and Community Outreach team and works under the supervision of the Food Access Director and Mobile Market Coordinator. This is an opportunity to be part of meaningful work that reduces barriers to food access, supports families, and strengthens our community in a direct and visible way.
In this role, you will help lead Mobile Market distribution sites, ensuring each event runs smoothly, efficiently, and in a way that is welcoming and respectful to all participants.
Responsibilities include:
  • Assisting with loading, transporting, and unloading food and supplies
  • Setting up and breaking down distribution sites
  • Supporting participant check in and data collection
  • Helping manage inventory to ensure accurate and equitable food distribution

You will work closely with team members, volunteers, and community partners while following all food safety, handling, and program compliance expectations. Creating a positive and dignified experience for every participant is a key part of this role.
Shift Information
This position is scheduled Monday through Thursday with evening shifts typically from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with opportunities for additional hours based on program needs and staff interest.
Requirements
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Pass a mandatory background check.
  • Capable of standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Flexibility in performing various physical tasks is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, reliability, and a willingness to be flexible are important.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, assist with physical setup, and work outdoors in a variety of conditions.
  • Previous experience in customer service, food access, or community programs is helpful but not required.
