Job description

Amazon's Mobile Security team (MobileSec) serves as Amazon's dedicated mobile security team across the company and subsidiaries. We enable builder teams to create secure mobile applications that protect Amazon customers through automated vulnerability detection, secure-by-default building blocks, best practice documentation, expert consultation, and defining the mobile security bar. We are seeking a Security Engineering Manager to lead this team. As a Security Engineering Manager, you will own the people, technical bar, and team output for MobileSec. You will hire and develop bar-raising security talent, define the team's technical strategy, and drive delivery against multi-year roadmaps spanning automated mobile detections, secure-by-default mobile libraries, and continuous security review coverage of Amazon's mobile applications. Your work will directly enable the vision of establishing a future where Amazon mobile applications are inherently secure from inception to release.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead, hire, and develop a team of Security Engineers and a Technical Program Manager covering mobile security reviews, automated detection, builder enablement, and operational queues including Bug Bounty triage and consultation
  • Set the mobile security bar for Amazon's mobile applications and ensure the team's detections, libraries, and guidance represent that bar across builder and partner organizations
  • Drive delivery against measurable goals such as expanding automated detection coverage, reducing manual review effort through static analysis and AI-assisted review, and shipping secure-by-default mobile libraries adopted in flagship applications
  • Build durable working relationships with partner organizations including shared SAST platform teams, application security platforms, and the Bug Bounty program
  • Establish metrics frameworks and dashboards that demonstrate mobile security's impact in quantifiable terms - detection coverage, review cycle time, builder velocity, cost avoidance, and customer trust, and report progress at the Director and VP level
  • Communicate complex technical decisions and trade-offs to Sr. Managers, Directors, and VPs through narratives, OP1/OP2 contributions, and presentations that emphasize business value
  • Mentor and develop Security Engineers and TPMs, providing constructive feedback and leading promotion assessments
