We're looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join the Media Delivery Platform team! The MDP team owns Snap's end-to-end media infrastructure from recording, editing, transcoding, uploading, media management, replication, storage, CDN, streaming to playback across mobile and backend. You will lead the client media platform team within MDP to power all on-device media infrastructure.

What you'll do:

  • Manage and mentor a team of mobile developers with deep media expertises, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment

  • Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver

  • Collaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders

  • Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor

  • Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members

  • Utilize AI tools and high velocity engineering workflows to design and ship scalable services while upholding rigorous standards for code correctness, security, and production ready quality code

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Background with building high performant and reliable media systems, including optimizations ranging from video player to video playback UI/UX

  • Experience with leading an engineering team

  • Ability leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives

  • Proficiency in, or a strong aptitude for, leveraging AI tools to streamline development, paired with the critical judgment to audit generated output for architectural integrity, performance bottlenecks, and security risks.

  • Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of engineering trends and modern development practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience

  • 9+ years of post-Bachelor's software development experience; or a Master's degree in a technical field + 7+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 3+ years of post-grad software development experience

  • 1+ years of experience managing a team

  • Experience with distributed systems and web development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the driving large scale initiatives from ideation to completion

  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Experience with Ops-heavy systems/products

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.


Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
