What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mining trainer?

To thrive as a Mining Trainer, you need in-depth knowledge of mining operations, safety protocols, and training methodologies, often supported by relevant industry certifications and experience. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), mining equipment simulators, and regulatory compliance tools is typically required. These skills ensure that mining personnel are properly trained, safe, and compliant with industry standards, directly impacting operational efficiency and workplace safety.

What is mining training?

Mining training refers to the education and instruction provided to workers in the mining industry to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs safely and effectively. This training covers a range of topics, including equipment operation, safety protocols, environmental regulations, and emergency procedures. Mining training can be delivered through classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, and on-the-job experience, and is essential for reducing workplace accidents and improving overall productivity in mining operations.

What are the most common challenges faced by mining training professionals when delivering training programs onsite?

Mining Training professionals often encounter challenges such as adapting instructional materials to varying skill levels among trainees, ensuring safety compliance in hazardous environments, and managing logistics for shift-based teams. Job description

Who we are
Pronto AI is a global leader in commercializing autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, deploying Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) that automate operations in mines, quarries, and construction sites worldwide. While much of the industry remains in R&D, we deliver real, production-ready autonomy that is already operating in the field.
We are on a mission to make mining operations safer, smarter, and more efficient through cutting-edge technology, and we are building toward becoming the world's first profitable AV technology company.
What you'll do
Project Delivery & Management
  • Success Criteria: Deliver projects to the agreed-upon performance metrics and success criteria, ensuring the autonomous system is integrated seamlessly into the mine's production cycle.
  • Team Leadership: Manage the local field team, overseeing permitting, scheduling, safety compliance, and overall work performance.
  • Customer Management: Hold the customer accountable for their deliverables, including resource commitments, machine availability, and site/route/equipment readiness.

Strategic Liaison
  • Primary Point of Contact: Act as the central communication hub between the customer site and Pronto HQ, providing regular progress reports and escalating technical or operational blockers.
  • Process Integration: Work with customers to set up or modify existing operational processes to accommodate autonomous haulage.
  • Handover & Training: Lead the customer training programs on Pronto technology and manage the formal handover of the system to the mine's operations team.

What we're looking for
Experience & Education
  • Mining Expertise: 15+ years of direct mining experience. You must be extremely comfortable and knowledgeable in a mine site environment, understanding the nuances of production and safety.
  • Leadership Tenure: 5-10 years in a leadership role (e.g., Site Superintendent, Maintenance Manager, or Fleet Manager).
  • Tech Rollout Experience: Proven track record of actively participating in technology rollouts, such as autonomy, remote operations, telematics, or machine control systems.
  • Education: A University Degree in Mining Engineering is highly preferred to establish immediate credibility with customer stakeholders.
  • Location: Must be based in AZ, CA, TX or WY.

Competencies
  • Operational Authority: The ability to command respect on-site and influence customer decision-making to ensure site readiness.
  • Adaptability: Deep understanding of how to transition a mine from manual to technology-assisted or autonomous operations.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for reporting to executive-level stakeholders at both the customer and Pronto.

Working Conditions & Schedule
On-Site Deployment: This is an on-site role. During deployments, you will stay regional to the customer in local accommodations or in customer-provided quarters.
Mining Schedule: Working schedules are based on mining rotations (e.g., x weeks on, y weeks off) rather than a standard office week.
Current Project Commitment: To complete the existing demo at Ma'aden, the successful candidate should expect to spend approximately 2 months remaining on-site.
Why join us
  • Work on real, production-deployed autonomy.
  • Build technology that directly improves safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Tackle complex challenges in demanding, real-world environments.
  • Be part of a fast-moving team with high ownership and impact.
  • See your work deployed and making a difference in the field.
  • Collaborate closely with experienced engineers and industry operators.

What else you need to know
This is a field-based role supporting operations across the United States and international locations. Atoms is a company driven by invention and continuous change-we are constantly reimagining our industries, building new products, and refining how we operate. This position requires travel across up to 75% of the time. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel and a highly mobile work environment.
The base salary range for this role is $81,000 - $102,000 per year.
Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus.
Benefits Summary (USA Full-Time Exempt Employees):
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and Life Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account / Health Savings Account Options
  • 401(k)
  • Equity
  • Sick Time, Unlimited Flexible Time Off, and Paid Holidays
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Pre-Tax Commuter Benefit Plan

Benefits are subject to change at the company's discretion.
Pronto accepts applications on an ongoing basis.
