Summary
The Mini-Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting college athletic teams, coaches, and staff to and from practices, competitions, training facilities, airports, and other team-related events. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, professionalism, and excellent customer service while representing the college in a positive manner.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a college-owned mini-bus to transport student-athletes, coaches, and staff to scheduled destinations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
  • Take vehicle to service calls and annual inspection appointments.
  • Maintain strict adherence to traffic laws, safety regulations, and institutional transportation policies.
  • Plan and follow assigned routes while allowing for traffic, weather, and event schedules.
  • Ensure passengers follow safety guidelines, including seatbelt use and appropriate conduct while traveling.
  • Assist with loading and unloading team equipment and luggage when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the mini-bus.
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or incidents promptly to the athletic department or transportation supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and fuel usage documentation.
  • Represent the college in a professional and courteous manner during travel and at athletic events.

Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license (CDL may be required depending on bus size and state regulations) with P endorsement-authorizing the permit holder to drive vehicles designed to transport sixteen or more passengers, including the driver.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Experience driving passenger vans, mini-buses, or similar vehicles preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight trips based on athletic schedules.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and defensive driving practices.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience transporting sports teams or groups.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation and trip planning tools preferred.
