Employees in minimum wage positions often face challenges such as high workload, limited advancement opportunities, and unpredictable schedules. To manage these effectively, it’s important to communicate openly with supervisors about scheduling needs and to seek out any available training or development programs. Minimum wage is the lowest hourly pay rate that employers are legally required to pay their workers, as set by federal, state, or local laws. The federal minimum wage in the United States is currently $7.25 per hour, but many states and cities have established higher rates. Minimum wage laws are designed to protect workers from exploitation and ensure a basic standard of living. Employers must comply with the highest applicable minimum wage in their location. Some jobs and workers may be exempt from minimum wage laws, such as tipped employees or certain youth workers.
