Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: Full Time
Compensation: $90-110k
Work Requirements: US Citizen
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support documentation efforts for a complex submarine systems environment. This role will develop and maintain technical manuals, operational procedures, installation guides, and training materials supporting system deployment, maintenance, and sustainment activities.
Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for software, hardware, system operations, and engineering activities.
  • Develop installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and system administration guides.
  • Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to gather and validate technical information.
  • Document system architectures, interfaces, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Support government deliverables and ensure compliance with documentation standards and configuration control requirements.

Requirements:
  • 6+ years of technical writing experience supporting government, defense, or other highly technical environments.
  • Experience independently developing and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and software-related documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with S1000D technical manuals, XML, and HTML-based authoring tools.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to gain one

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Visio, or similar diagramming tools.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy submarine systems and military technical publication standards.
  • Experience supporting defense acquisition programs and related documentation processes.
