Job Overview
The Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) Accounting Clerk assists the NAF Accounting Office Manager with providing Financial Management Services for Base Operating Support activities for NAF. This role assists the Manager in the creation of accounting documentation for Maxwell Air Force Base. This role is part time onsite in Montgomery, Alabama.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Assists the NAF Accounting Office Manager in ensuring all accounting reporting activities for the project-specific tasks are thoroughly and timely prepared and reviewed and that all reports follow appropriate financial standards and company and U.S. Government requirements.
  • Assists in providing financial indicator products that reflect comparative operational results for performance interpretation, ratios, trends, and projections.
  • Reviews NAF Subsidiary Accounts and Financial Statements prior to monthly closeout.
  • Assists with all NAF budgeting functions, to include income and expense, cash flow, and NAF Requirements Budgets (NRBs) as prescribed by the Force Support Squadron FSS organization to obtain approval from the NAF council and the Wing Commander.
  • Prepare financial slides at the discretion of the NAF Accounting Office Manager.
  • Comply with and implement the required responsibilities as identified in the AF Services Financial Management System AFSFMS Users Guide.
  • Assist with tracking and reconciling construction projects within FSS activities.
  • Assists with helping resolve accounting discrepancies and reporting errors with RMFC, Activity Manager, and SSC.
  • Prepare General Ledger Adjustment Form GLAF for accounting adjustments.
  • Provide accounting support for accounting reconciliation to RMFC, Activity Manager's programs, and SSC accounting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional, and mission requirements.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • Associate's degree in accounting or business administration.
  • 2+ years of experience in Accounting and Financial Management. Experience can fulfill the degree requirement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - necessary for presenting findings, recommendations, and reports to internal and external departments and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - crucial for auditing and negotiation.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills are required for the identification of opportunities for process improvement and analysis of corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Knowledge of the Access database program is desired.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain government identification/common access card.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred:
  • Prior Military accounting experience preferred.
