The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Network Designerto join the team in North Charleston, SC.
A Mid-Level Network Designer is an experienced technical contributor responsible for designing, validating, and documenting robust network solutions across enterprise, campus, data center, and hybrid cloud environments. This role focuses on delivering high-quality designs, supporting implementations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure networks meet performance, availability, security, and operational requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Produce high- and low-level network designs for multi-site, data center, cloud, and hybrid deployments following established standards and reference architectures
  • Define topology, routing, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, segmentation, resilience, capacity estimates, and quality of service (QoS) for assigned projects
  • Create clear implementation artifacts: design diagrams, configuration guides, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and acceptance criteria
  • Validate designs with modelling, lab testing, or simulation and make recommendations to improve resiliency and performance
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and technology assessments; provide technical input for selection processes
  • Support implementation teams during deployment and handover; troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that arise during rollouts
  • Collaborate with security, cloud, storage, compute, procurement, and operations teams to ensure cohesive solutions and smooth delivery
  • Contribute to architecture standards, design patterns, and documentation; propose improvements based on project experience
  • Ensure designs meet compliance, security, performance, availability, and cost objectives for assigned scope
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and emerging/networking technologies and provide practical recommendations for adoption

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in creating and implementing detailed Network design packages
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions (e.g. client/server, storage, network, cloud, information security concepts, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with designing and implementing large scale network architectures, including complex routing and switching configurations
  • 3+ years of experience performing network security implementations or assessments
  • 3+ years of experience with Cisco and Arista networking, load balancing, firewalls, and/or related technologies for network solutions

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ year experience developing Python and Ansible scripts for automation
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud-platform technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Cisco CCNP (Enterprise) or equivalent professional-level certification preferred
  • Cloud certifications (AWS Associate/Professional, Azure Associate/Architect/Foundation in GCP)
  • Experience with capacity planning basics, performance testing, and designing for resiliency and failover
  • Demonstrated automation project experience or relevant automation certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
