MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Data Engineer, the work youll do at GDIT will be impactful by providing technical expertise on a mission-critical program whose purpose is to develop, modernize, enhance, operate, and maintain services for OIS mission critical systems.

  • As Data Engineer you will work on a team consisting of Data and Cloud Architects, Engineers, and Administrators and focus on designing, building, deploying, and maintaining data architectures and databases in the AWS GovCloud environment.

  • Develop, construct, test, and maintain high performance, scalable, and stable data architectures for OIS, such as databases and large-scale processing systems, and migrate data from on-premises databases to cloud-based solutions, transforming the data as required.

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and build out new API integrations, ensure that data pipelines are scalable, repeatable, and secure.

  • Implement and manage databases and data delivery systems and transform them into insights, analysis, and reporting.

  • Identify, research, design, develop, and promote solutions that enhance the modern development environment to ensure systems meet business requirements and industry best practices.

  • Implement the data extraction, data load, and database synchronization routines and functions ETL.

  • Implement data governance and quality controls and monitor ETL/ELT jobs to ensure performance and halt any potential issues.

  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new elements and ensure all data platform solutions adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that the data infrastructure supports required functions and performance metrics.

  • Design, model, document, and guide the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes.

  • Document data architecture and systems for both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk assessments.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our Data Engineer must have:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance

  • Experience: 10+ years of prior Data engineering experience

  • Experience with implementing data warehousing concepts, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and tools (e.g., Pentaho)

  • Experience with developing and administrating in PostreSQL

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with other querying languages.

  • Experience in decomposition of Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures and triggers to migrate to Amazon Aurora DB, Postgres, or MySQL

  • Proven, handson expertise in data modeling, schema design, and database optimization, with the ability to design, implement, and optimize complex data structures in production environments.

  • Knowledge of data security and compliance best practices.

  • Experience with GitLab, Liquibase, CI/CD pipelines highly preferred

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Debezium, RabbitMQ, etc.

  • Demonstrated experience in network and cyber security design, engineering and operations with emphasis on Navy capabilities

  • Prior Navy experience.

  • Experience with cloud data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Experience with Cloud Relational Database Services (e.g, AWS RDS, Aurora DB)

  • SAFe experience and knowledge

  • Experience with Data warehousing and Business Intelligence tools such asRedShift,MicroStrategy,Erwin Data Modeler, etc.

  • Experience with one or more programming languages like Python, Java, Scala, or Go.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Must be a self-starter andhave the ability towork independently with little supervision.

  • Certification Requirements:

  • 8570/8140 - IAT II CompTIA Security+ CE.

  • Computing Environment Certification:AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Data Engineer or similar equivalent Cloud environment certification or Oracle Database Certified Associate or equivalent Database Certification(highly preferred to have in hand upon applying; if not, must obtain within 3 months of start)

  • Work Location: Mechanicsburg, PA or Yorktown, VA.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $129,813 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
