Job description

Notes:

  • Must be local to Florida and the in-office requirement is one to two days per week.
  • Must be able to manager a team and have a strong tax and accounting background.
  • The overall purpose of this position is to prepare and supervise the preparation of the federal and state tax returns related to specific business units. There will be additional projects related to tax planning and tax provision.

Responsibilities of & Requirements for the Role:

  • Completes complex tasks and projects requiring independent initiative; anticipate roadblocks and seeks
    guidance on resolution; considers new ways of doing tasks and looking at process.
  • Preparation of complex/material tax return permanent and temporary adjustments specific to business segment.
  • Analysis of changes to federal and state tax laws
  • Preparation and review of tax return workpaper packages
  • Prepare and review federal and multi-state income tax returns
  • Preparation and review of global tax adjustment calculations (e.g. R&D Credit, Bonus , etc.)
  • Project taxable income amounts for estimated tax purposes, provision and extensions
  • Stock Basis calculations
  • Develop and implement process improvements
  • Assist in leading tax technical and procedural training of staff
  • Supervision and training of college interns
  • Reconciliations of deferred tax asset and liability balances
  • Assisting with federal and state income tax audits
  • Special projects (tax planning, and department wide initiatives)

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years in a large corporation or similar experience in a large accounting firm. Experience should be focused on federal and state income tax.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong business process improvement and system experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in taxation or accounting
  • Superior Excel skills
  • SAP, OneSource RS (tax prep software), Microsoft Office products, RIA (or similar tax research software)
  • Income tax preparation software (such as OneSource RS or CorpTax), RIA (or similar tax research software) Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Excel. Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • CPA exam passed or working towards licensure.
