Anduril's Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team is responsible for rapidly developing and implementing manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials for cutting-edge defense hardware. The team is developing deployable static and moving surfaces, undersea and sea to air vehicles, and scaling these products in our new manufacturing facilities.
ABOUT THE JOB
We are looking for a Metrology Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Santa Ana, CA working in a cutting-edge production environment to advance the state-of-the-possible in maritime manufacturing. In this role, you will blend hands-on inspection with data-driven engineering analysis. You will be responsible for developing automated inspection routines for CMMs, creating alignment strategies for large- scale laser tracker measurements, and analyzing dimensional data to provide actionable feedback to the entire organization. Your work will support the full product lifecycle, from initial R&D and prototyping to process validation and full-rate production within our AS9100 certified system. This role requires a problem- solver's mindset and a passion for turning data into manufacturing improvement.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Develop, program, and execute inspection routines for CMMs, portable arms, and laser trackers using software like PC-DMIS, Polyworks, and Spatial Analyzer.
  • Analyze inspection data to perform root cause analysis, support statistical process control (SPC) initiatives, and conduct capability studies.
  • Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to provide Design for Manufacturability/Inspectability (DFM/DFI) feedback on new products.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models to create comprehensive inspection plans that effectively validate GD&T requirements.
  • Generate clear and concise inspection reports and present findings to cross-functional teams to drive corrective actions.
  • Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures for metrology processes within our AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Assist in maintaining metrology equipment calibration and contribute to the selection of new measurement technology.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, or metrology engineering role.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per the ASME Y14.5 standard.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major metrology software platform (PC-DMIS, Polyworks, or Spatial Analyzer), with a strong aptitude to become proficient in others.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment governed by a formal Quality Management System (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and 3D CAD models.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Direct programming experience with multiple metrology platforms (e.g., proficiency in both PC-DMIS and Spatial Analyzer).
  • Hands-on experience with both fixed CMMs and portable metrology equipment (laser trackers, portable arms).
  • Experience creating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to the AS9102 standard.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (such as NX or SolidWorks) for interrogating models.

US Salary Range
$129,000-$171,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
