Job description

Performs non-destructive testing (NDT) on materials, manufactured items, and components. Inspects metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials, parts, and assemblies for defects using automated and manual NDT methods including ultrasound, infrared thermography, radiography, penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, and visual testing. Reads and interprets technical procedures and work instructions to conduct evaluations for acceptance/rejection of hardware/products.

Provides other technical support for all LM Space programs and sites. Works primarily with a team but also works independently to perform day-to-day tasks. Additionally, works with remote teams of NDT personnel.

Supports program-required inspections during off-shifts, sometimes with short notice, to ensure program hardware production is on-schedule. Upon starting in your new role, your manager and senior NDT engineers will help you develop a plan to acquire and maintain multiple LM Space NDT Level II certifications per NAS-410.The primary focus of this role is to provide non-destructive inspection support to the composites shop. Common articles include solid laminates, honeycomb panels, and secondary bonds (both metallic and composite)

You will support inspections throughout the entire build process such as post-curing, post-machining, pre and post-proofing, as well as inspecting any damage/incidents and research and development.
