Job description

Job Title: Merchant Support Coordinator

Department: Merchandising

Reports To: VP of Specialty Crops

Compensation: DOE

We are headquartered in Portland, Oregon, and own/operate over sixty elevators and offices throughout WA, ID, MT, NE, ND, and MN to support our domestic and export sales program.

Position Description
The Specialty Crops division is responsible for sourcing, merchandising, and delivering specialty crops to customers throughout the United States and around the globe. The Merchant Support Coordinator provides administrative, customer service, and operational support to the merchandising team in areas including contract entry and maintenance, customer communication, report generation, logistics coordination, account reconciliation, and other activities related to moving product efficiently through the business. This position interacts regularly with multiple Columbia Grain business units, customers, and suppliers

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

These include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide direct administrative and operational support to the Columbia Grain merchandising team, including data reconciliation, data entry, filing, and report preparation.
  • Handle detailed and time-sensitive communications with customers, suppliers, and internal business partners.
  • Support the team with customer claims processes and related documentation.
  • Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with information gathering, tracking, and report generation.
  • Maintain reports and update information as needed.
  • Provide merchandising and accounting support as assigned.
  • Utilize Columbia Grain's enterprise systems and software tools as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Experience

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a fast-paced, dynamic market environment. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task are essential to this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Two or more years of clerical, administrative, customer service, or operations support experience preferred; agricultural commodity trading or merchandising environment experience is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and written formats.
Ability to prioritize daily activities, manage time-sensitive work, and follow through on assigned tasks.
Ability to follow directions and maintain accurate data entry.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; experience with enterprise software systems preferred.
