A day in the life...

 The Deli Lead is accountable for managing all ordering, receiving, organization, and daily operations of the Marketplace Deli. They are charged with ensuring the consistent delivery of positive customer experiences at the deli and ensuring cleanliness, safety, compliance, and brand standards are always maintained. In this creative and strategic role, the deli lead could "make things their own" in the areas of product sourcing, menu development, and deli layout and processes. As the leader of the deli, the Deli Lead should ensure all deli products are the best quality possible. 


Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with the Market Manager to create ready-made recipes and menus tailored to the consumer profiles for each of our lodging properties. Manage the production of ready-made products according to anticipated sales and seasonal needs.
  • Own deli sales performance, developing sales promotion programs tailored to consumer profiles and business needs and determining and maintaining the proper layout/ organization of deli windows, with the goal of maximizing revenue and guest experience.
  • Ensure that the physical environment, equipment, and food products in the deli kitchen consistently meet the standards of our brand promise. Be an expert in food product and kitchen equipment and bring anything within in the kitchen that does not meet the brand standard to the attention of the GM for proper action.
  • Assist guests with everything behind the deli counter, including but not limited to scooping and accepting payment for ice cream.
  • Communicate out of stocks and other important information to the manager on duty.
  • Assist with the receiving process, ensuring the process, storage, and handling meeting expectations.
  • Follow process, storage, and handling instructions and communicate all food safety concerns.
  • Be an expert on all products behind the deli counter and knowledgeable about all Market products.
  • Anticipate guest needs and address guest issues. Feel empowered to make things right and pass the situation up to the manager on duty when needed.
  • Engage guests in sampling products. Set up and manage sampling stations for specials and offer samples of items that guests are on the fence about purchasing.

  • Previous grocery store and/or store clerk/stocker/deli experience preferred.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fun and fast paced environment.
  • Ability to focus on attention to guest needs and customer service.
  • State approved Food Handlers.
