Membership & Engagement Specialist
Full-Time | Exempt (Salaried)

MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society, is seeking an energetic and relationship-driven Membership & Engagement Specialist to help strengthen and grow Maryland's largest physician membership organization.
This position plays a critical role in membership recruitment, retention, engagement, and outreach. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys building relationships, identifying opportunities for growth, analyzing trends, and developing strategies that enhance the member experience. This role serves as a key ambassador for MedChi and works closely with physician leaders, component medical societies, prospective members, and internal teams to ensure members recognize and receive value from their MedChi membership.
Reporting to the Chief Experience Officer, the Membership & Engagement Specialist will be responsible for supporting membership growth initiatives, increasing member engagement, strengthening relationships with component societies, and helping advance MedChi's mission of serving Maryland physicians.
Key ResponsibilitiesMembership Growth & Retention
  • Develop and implement membership recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective, current, and former members to increase engagement and membership participation.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen membership value and improve retention rates.
  • Support membership campaigns and promotional initiatives designed to grow membership.
  • Assist in developing strategies to increase member participation in MedChi programs, services, events, and advocacy efforts.
Member Relations & Engagement
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for MedChi members and component medical societies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, physician leaders, and healthcare stakeholders throughout Maryland.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and timely responses to member inquiries.
  • Coordinate targeted communications to increase awareness of member benefits, resources, programs, and events.
  • Gather and analyze member feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Outreach & Business Development
  • Represent MedChi at meetings, conferences, medical society events, and membership outreach activities.
  • Develop relationships with residency programs, medical students, young physicians, and healthcare organizations to promote membership opportunities.
  • Support strategic outreach initiatives that expand MedChi's presence and visibility across Maryland.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify partnership opportunities and enhance member engagement.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Track membership trends, engagement metrics, recruitment efforts, and retention outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate membership records and databases.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and recommendations to support membership strategy and decision-making.
  • Utilize membership data to identify opportunities for growth and targeted outreach.
Events & Administrative Support
  • Assist with planning and execution of membership meetings, networking events, leadership programs, and conferences.
  • Coordinate event logistics, registrations, attendee communications, and on-site support.
  • Prepare reports, meeting materials, and presentations as needed.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in membership services, association management, business development, customer success, nonprofit organizations, healthcare, sales, or relationship management preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
