Managed Funds Association (MFA), based in Washington, D.C., New York City, Brussels, and London, represents the global alternative asset management industry. MFA's mission is to advance the ability of alternative asset managers to raise capital, invest it, and generate returns for their beneficiaries. MFA advocates on behalf of its membership and convenes stakeholders to address global regulatory, operational, and business issues. MFA has more than 180 fund manager members, including traditional hedge funds, private credit funds, and hybrid funds, that employ a diverse set of investment strategies. Member firms help pension plans, university endowments, charitable foundations, and other institutional investors diversify their investments, manage risk, and generate attractive returns throughout the economic cycle.
Who You Are
The Associate, Membership will be responsible for supporting the Association's membership strategy, inclusive of the following: existing member relationship management, service provider engagement, membership database management, quality and usage, and supporting ad hoc membership events, programming and projects.
What You'll Do
Essential Responsibilities:
Program, event, and engagement execution
  • Under the direction of Managing Director, Membership, this role will coordinate with internal departments to assist in the execution of the programs, events and member interactions with the goal of elevating member value, enhancing awareness of MFA's brand, and advancing the mission of the Association.
  • Support and execute the programming, deployment, and follow-ups of member events including forums, meetings, round tables, receptions and roadshows.
  • Support and execute membership workstreams and related projects.

Growth, origination, and retention
  • Assist in the execution of membership origination and retention plans, including marketing campaigns, to support growth of the Association across all segments.
  • Support prospect tracking for members and report ongoing pipeline updates.
  • Support the client coverage model to ensure effective client service.
  • Identify opportunities through interactions with members and via online research, to increase engagement members and prospects.
  • Support the management of the membership inbox
  • Support the membership onboarding and offboarding processes

Data, reporting, analytics
  • Produce ad hoc and recurring reporting and metrics related to membership.
  • Assist in developing and refining the design of metrics and analytics tools, working alongside Business Systems colleagues to efficiently produce key performance indicators related to current and prospective investors.
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance processes and make the production of metrics and meeting preparation and follow up materials more efficient
  • Support the transition of AMS system
  • Synthesize market and industry outlets and alternative databases and newsletters for pertinent information related to members, prospects and investors.

Marketing and collateral
  • Support the development of customized marketing materials for individual prospective members collaborating with the Communications team.
  • Produce member and prospect materials for leadership to support any meetings, emails, or interactions.

Process improvement, team goals, and people/other
  • Apply and refine best practices and processes to develop and implement innovative strategies to meet the established annual team goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience delivering top client service to internal and external parties.
  • Ability to contribute data-driven insight into member development activities, working fluently with CRM across the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented culture that values the importance of being a good teammate, communicator, and partner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start, think ahead, problem solve, and engage proactively with high professionalism, reliability, and accountability.
  • Highly organized
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Occasional domestic and international business travel is required.
