Job description

Job Summary

This is a specialized clerical work in maintaining, processing and storing the records of the Police Department in various media. Work involves the day-to-day tasks associated with the Police Department Records Unit to include, but not limited to, assisting the public, processing criminal history background checks, record restrictions, basic open records requests and processing requests from the Rockdale County District Attorney's office.

Any essential function or requirement of this class will be evaluated as necessary should an incumbent/applicant be unable to perform the function or requirement due to a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Reasonable accommodation for the specific disability will be made for the incumbent/applicant when possible.

  • Provides assistant to the front window of the Police Department relating to al police business
  • Process all requests for accident and incident reports
  • Process all incoming records requests under the Georgia Open Records Act
  • Process requests for arrest record restrictions
  • Process and accounts for all monies taken at the front window of the Police Department on a daily basis
  • Processes criminal history background check requests
  • Processes fingerprint requests, utilizing various fingerprint submission methods
  • Performs database maintenance to maintain the integrity of the Records Management System
  • Follow the Records Retention Policy and purges police records
  • Answersincoming phone calls and returns voicemails in a timely manner
  • Answer all Special Event Permit Applications and emails them to proper personnel for revie
  • Processes and approve all reports in the Records Management System, preparing the reports for final review by the NIBRS Coordinator

Minimum Qualifications

Licenses:

Valid Georgia Driver's License.

Education:

Completion of astandard high school diploma or its equivalentfrom a regionally or nationally accredited school. College is highly preferred

Experience:

Two (2) or more years' experience in an office environment, working with the general public and maintaining customer relations

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Special Requirements:

Must be willing to submit to a police background check and polygraph. Must not have a pattern of law violations
