Position Overview: The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for administering the company's medical records program. Performs duties as required by public law and any other agencies. Thorough knowledge of accepted medical-records practices including medical records ethics, classification, and nomenclature. Ability to interpret medical records department policies and procedures and to apply them in specific situations. Thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations and laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that medical records are complete, accurate, and conform to accepted standards, regulations or requirements, in accordance with standard medical records practices.
  • Preparing patient charts and gathering information and documents
  • Ensuring that the medical records are organized, accurate and complete
  • Creating digital copies of paperwork and storing the records electronically
  • Safeguarding patient records and ensuring that everyone complies with the HIPAA standards
  • Assures release of confidential information in accordance with rules and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Preferred Qualifications: ART (accredited records technician) or RRA (registered records administrator) designation. Proven experience with effective hiring and motivating, and managing a team.
  • 2 years of professional experience in one or more relevant fields
