Job description

Description

The Materials Handler is responsible for performing all functions within the Materials Management Department, including receiving, storage and distribution of supplies, equipment accountability, inventory control, and distribution of orders, requisitions, and related clerical requirements. S/he occasionally provides messenger service both within and outside the hospital. Responsible to pick up, distribute, post and delivery daily mail, linen and other items as requested to the offsite Clinics as well as courier for other departments as necessary.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Supply Pyxis Stations on a day-to-day basis
  • Monitor Usage & set mins/max par levels accordingly
  • Monitor outdates in Pyxis monthly
  • Clean & upkeep of the Pyxis Stations to include calling in for service if needed
  • Train Directors & Super User on the use of Pyxis
  • Collect patient charge cards, process charges via computer software (Meditech) on a daily basis for those departments or areas that don't have a Pyxis
  • Run various Pyxis Reports on an as needed basis
  • Distribute equipment, i.e. Isolation Carts, Crash Cart
  • Fill daily supply requisitions and deliver to designated areas on an as needed basis
  • Deliver incoming freight to designated departments on an as needed basis.
  • Rotate shelf stock and check for outdated supplies a monthly basis
  • Maintain & manage warehouse stock thru Meditech, i.e. add, remove & adjust items from warehouse & Pyxis updated and adjust shelving labels
  • Restock & input charges of supplies for crash carts and isolation carts
  • Fill EWOK orders & charge accordingly
  • Monitor & reconcile After-Hours charges & credits
  • Warehouse housekeeping duties, i.e. sweeping, trash removal, break down boxes & load bailer
  • Provides customer service to include responding to complaints and answering general questions as it pertains to department and job duties within the organization.
  • Ensures empty boxes are folded and neatly stack for recycling pickups.
  • Ensures all shipping boxes are properly stored and off the floor daily.
  • Assist in maintaining medical equipment log.
  • Ensures the appropriate departmental safety and infection control procedures are followed.
  • Must participate in all periodic physical inventories.
  • Represents the department to administration, other areas, outside entities and the public professionally.
  • Crosstrain in all areas of supply chain.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director.

  • Valid NM Driver's license & a clean driving record Required
