Jet Midwest is a full-service commercial aviation company, specializing in the sale and lease of commercial aircraft, engines, and parts as well as aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services to the aviation industry.
Position Description:
Title: Material Handler
Status: Full Time
Department: Material Operations
Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement and organization of materials throughout the warehouse and other locations of the facility, primarily by utilizing warehousing equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks, but also by hand as necessary. Additionally, the role is also responsible for certain general housekeeping and layout/reorganization tasks and supports numerous special projects on an as-needed basis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities included, but not limited to:
  • Safely operate equipment and utilize safe and appropriate physical techniques to move materials to and from storage configurations
  • Follow the Material Handling process, procedures, and work instructions in accordance with Quality Systems
  • Use equipment in accordance with training programs to accomplish the Warehouse mission in a safe, effective manner
  • Unload all materials into Receiving Department; ensures materials are staged for counting and inspection; ensures receiving reports accurately report material received
  • Move material from the Receiving Department to the Warehouse locations in an efficient, effective, and safe manner
  • Ensure materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures
  • Become forklift certified

Education & Experience:
  • A high-energy personality and desire to learn and grow quickly
  • 2-3 years of experience of forklift operation
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Receiving or Warehouse, with emphasis on Material Handling operations, methods, and practices
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, and general office technology
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealings with outside vendors, coworkers, and clients
  • Professional, polished communication skills - oral and written
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
While performing the responsibilities of the Material Handler, the employee will be walking within the warehouse vicinity. More than 75% of their job duties will require the ability to: walk long distances, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The noise level is usually low, as consistent with a warehouse environment. At times, some light lifting may be required, up to 50 lbs. As such, safe lifting techniques should be used, and a request for assistance should be made to a co-worker.
