Job description

We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, cost accounting, and overall financial management. This role will partner with senior leadership to provide financial insight, strengthen internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

The position is primarily on-site, with a minimum expectation of three days per week in the office.

The ideal candidate will have strong cost accounting experience, a background in a manufacturing or operationally complex environment, and familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization's day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Manage accounting activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, banking, purchasing transactions, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Oversee inventory accounting and costing for raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Perform detailed cost and variance analysis, comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts.
  • Identify financial trends, performance indicators, variances, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs related to operational efficiency, cost management, and financial performance.
  • Provide financial analysis, recommendations, and insights to senior management to support business decisions.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls to promote accurate and reliable financial reporting.
  • Support revenue recognition processes and ensure appropriate application of applicable accounting standards, including ASC 606.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide requested financial information and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial and accounting processes.
  • Support capital projects and other business initiatives through financial analysis and reporting.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.


Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience, including Controller-level experience.
  • Strong cost accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing, production, engineering, or similarly operationally complex environment.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems; SAP or a comparable enterprise accounting platform preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/financial software.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, inventory accounting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience supporting capital projects or project-driven operations is preferred.
  • International business experience is a plus.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is primarily an office-based position with regular computer use, meetings, financial analysis, and collaboration across departments. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, with occasional walking, standing, and movement of light materials weighing up to approximately 10 pounds.
