Material Handler

Salary Range $23.97 - $28.88 Hourly Position Type Full Time Job Shift Multiple Shifts

Job Description

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Material Handler to support the Honeycomb expander by preparing the pin plies prior to expansion. The Material Handler will also support the breakdown of blocks after they have been heat set as well as assisting with the actual expansion process.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Material Handler will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Load unexpanded blocks on to prep tables using Posi-turner hoist.
  • Cut the aluminum foil by marking with template and using a box cutter.
  • Pull up all the loops on one side of the block and flip using Posi-Turner and do the same for the bottom side of the block.
  • Use the Big Joe to pick up new blocks on place on prep tables.
  • Apply and practice 5S concept to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends.
  • Bring down blocks from Heat Set Ovens and place on 2x4's in preparation for break down.
  • Remove the bars from the frames and place on cart. Ask for help to move the bars back to the expander.
  • Remove rods from the frames and place back in their locations next to the expander.
  • Remove the pin plies from both ends of the block and discard in trash bin across the isle.
  • Inspect the block for proper length and width as well as cell count.
  • Using a sharpie, record order information on the side of the block.
  • Record information on paperless order in SAP.
  • Record labor transactions in SAP.
  • Perform scheduled PM's as prescribed.
  • Assigned as a Quality Delegate to inspect in-process and final WIP in lieu of QA.
  • Other duties may be assigned dependent on TGC business environment.

  • High School Diploma
  • Forklift Certification, with a valid California Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Must have English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, understand, and communicate the company's operating procedures and policies.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate math proficiency equal to or greater than required for the position applied.
  • Must be available to work the shift specified by the position and be flexible to potential overtime on weekends/ holidays.
