Material Handler

Salary Range $23.97 - $28.88 Hourly Position Type Full Time Job Shift 2nd Shift

Description

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Material Handler who is responsible for receiving, storing, moving and distributing materials between the warehouse and production areas while maintaining accurate inventory records and adhering to safety protocols.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

  • Assists in set ups for current and arriving shift.
  • Moves and transports materials products within the plant.
  • All materials delivered to B1 and B7 production are verified for pre-preg shelf life and core damage.
  • Ensure good housekeeping is kept throughout the facility.
  • Puts core in oven.
  • Helps to prepare the next job for production.
  • Prepare and stage materials in return location for B8 warehouse
  • Enters inventory transaction into computer (manual or through scanner) for all issue, receipt and transfer material movements.
  • Maintains accurate transaction on time sensitive material
  • Operates and maintains fork lift equipment in a safe manner following all company policies and regulations.
  • Must be available to work over-time and weekends.
  • Assist with the layup, etching and pressing operations when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Apply and practice 5S concept to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • A safety-first mindset, ensuring that every task is performed with care for yourself, your team, and the environment.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of Forklift Operation experience
  • Valid California Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
  • Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures, such as refrigerated areas, outdoor settings, or heated production spaces.
  • Acceptable Spirometry Test results (full/half respirator use).
  • Basic computer skills – SAP experience a plus but not required
  • Basic Math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Able to continuously stand for a minimum of 8 hours
  • Work weekends and overtime as needed
  • Must have English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, understand, and communicate the company's operating procedures and policies.
  • 1-2 years as a material handler or warehouse environment
