Job Position: Medical Coder/Biller
Location: Baton Rouge, LA 70806
Pay Rate: $17-$22/hr
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30a-5:00p
AMMON Healthcare is hiring a Medical Biller/Coder responsible for accurately coding patient encounters, submitting clean claims, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring timely reimbursement. This role requires strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and payer guidelines, with proven experience working in Athenahealth (Athena One) for billing, coding, and claim management.
Key Responsibilities
• Review and code all provider documentation using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS with high accuracy.
• Enter and validate charges in Athena; ensure proper linking of diagnoses and procedures.
• Submit clean claims through Athena Collector and resolve claim edits or rejections.
• Manage accounts receivable, including denials, appeals, and follow-up with payers.
• Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and authorization requirements when needed.
• Monitor claim status and correct coding or documentation issues to prevent delays.
• Work closely with providers to clarify documentation and ensure compliant coding.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific billing regulations.
• Generate reports in Athena for productivity, AR aging, and claim performance.
• Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards at all times.
