Job description

We are looking for a Paralegal to join a plaintiff personal injury practice in Tampa, Florida on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This position supports attorneys throughout the litigation lifecycle, from early pleadings and discovery through mediation, hearings, and trial. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Florida personal injury matters, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare initial pleadings for personal injury cases, including complaints and early case disclosures.
• Manage written discovery by creating outgoing requests and drafting responses to incoming discovery and expert-related materials.
• Develop follow-up correspondence and court filings when discovery obligations are not met, including good faith communications and motions seeking compliance.
• Coordinate litigation events by arranging depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and trials, while preparing notices and subpoenas as needed.
• Monitor court calendars and judicial availability to assist with scheduling and case planning.
• Gather and organize case support materials such as medical records, billing documentation, lien information, exhibits, and trial binders.
• Draft litigation documents including motions, proposed orders, and mediation summaries for attorney review and filing.
• Submit legal filings in state and federal courts and provide direct support to attorneys during trial preparation and courtroom proceedings.
• Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, judicial assistants, and expert witnesses throughout the life of each case.• At least 2 years of experience in Florida plaintiff personal injury litigation.
• Associate’s degree in paralegal studies required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Florida Registered Paralegal credential or comparable paralegal certification is preferred.
• Working knowledge of insurance coverage issues and their impact on personal injury claims.
• Familiarity with the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and litigation document review requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to draft complaints, motions, objections, responses, and related legal correspondence.
• Strong communication, client service, and organizational skills with close attention to deadlines and detail.
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment screening.
