Position Overview

Are you a visionary engineer ready to transcend traditional design and steer the mechanical division of a premier Southern California firm? We are seeking a Mechanical Manager to architect the future of our mechanical and plumbing departments. In this pivotal leadership role, you won't just manage "chores"โ€”you will be the technical heartbeat of the firm, transforming conceptual building visions into high-performance, sustainable mechanical systems. You will serve as a mentor to rising talent and a strategic partner to our clients, ensuring every project reflects our legacy of engineering excellence.

This is an invitation to take true ownership of your career trajectory, backed by cutting-edge cloud-based technology and a collaborative environment where your contributions directly influence the firm's growth and your own financial upside through performance-driven incentives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Steer the mechanical design team, providing high-level supervision and mentorship to engineers, designers, and technicians to foster a culture of technical mastery.

  • System Architecture: Design complex mechanical and plumbing systems for diverse residential and commercial portfolios, ensuring innovation and efficiency are at the forefront of every plan.

  • Project Stewardship: Navigate the entire project lifecycle from conceptual design through construction, managing staffing requirements and schedules to ensure flawless execution.

  • Client Relationship Management: Act as a primary technical consultant to retain and grow existing client partnerships, attending high-stakes meetings and translating client needs into engineering realities.

  • Technical Authority: Author comprehensive Basis of Design (BOD) documents and technical specifications while serving as the final word on code compliance and engineering fundamentals.

  • Field Integration: Lead job site walks and surveys, including climbing ladders to observe existing conditions, to ensure that design intent is perfectly realized during the construction phase.

  • Performance Optimization: Oversee the review of submittals and RFIs, providing rapid, expert solutions to maintain project momentum and technical integrity.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Specialized Software: Experience with EnergyPro, Navisworks (clash detection), and MEP Fabrication.

  • Industry Insight: Deep knowledge of California Title 24 energy codes and local San Diego building standards.
