Basic Job Functions:

The Mechanical Project Engineer leads and manages both capital and smaller-scale projects within a heavy manufacturing environment, applying mechanical engineering expertise to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role drives project execution - from initial scoping and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. The Mechanical Project Engineer partners closely with maintenance, operations, and leadership teams to define project goals, communicate progress, manage resources, and resolve issues. Must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  2. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
  3. Prior leadership experience managing contractors and/or cross-functional teams
