Job Description

The Mechanic Helper supports daily mechanical, electrical, and plumbing operations across various local job sites. This role works closely with a foreman to assist with installations, service calls, and general maintenance tasks, ensuring projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily operations of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks across multiple projects.
• Support the foreman with all assigned tasks, following instructions and completing work safely and efficiently.
• Travel with the foreman to different local locations and job sites as needed.
• Cut and bend pipe and wire accurately according to project specifications.
• Assist with the installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for clients.
• Support service calls by helping diagnose issues and carrying out basic repairs under supervision.
• Use hand tools safely and correctly for cutting, bending, fastening, and assembling materials.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, materials, and vehicles.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times while on job sites.
• Communicate clearly with the foreman and team members to ensure tasks are completed on time and to quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience using hand tools safely and effectively.
• Basic understanding of plumbing tasks and components.
• Ability to cut and bend pipe and wire accurately.
• Willingness and ability to travel locally to multiple job sites with the foreman.
• Capability to follow instructions and work under supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and reliability, including consistent attendance and punctuality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience or familiarity with plumbing work is a plus.
• Carpentry experience or exposure is a plus.
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills are a plus.
• Interest in developing skills to progress into a foreman role over time.
• Comfort working with basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems under supervision.

Work Environment

This role is field-based and involves working at various local job sites alongside a foreman. You will work primarily with hand tools and materials related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The workday typically involves physical tasks such as cutting and bending pipe and wire, assisting with installations, and supporting service calls. The environment can include indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to typical construction or mechanical shop conditions, and the need to follow all safety guidelines. Work attire should be practical and appropriate for construction and mechanical work, suitable for active, hands-on tasks in a job-site environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Batesville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
