Job description

Pay Rate Starting at: Level $12.00/ hr Rates of pay are determined by previous experience and labor contract seniority.

SUMMARY

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. Meat clerk must possess full knowledge of all meat items, including location. Clerk will serve customers by weighing, wrapping, pricing, and labeling desired meat products. The clerk will also stock shelves and maintain a clean work area. Clerk is responsible for setting an example in providing attentive and courteous customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide Remarkable Customer Service at all times
  • Adhere to company policy through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of product
  • Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Meat operations, safety, and sanitation
  • Ensure proper temperatures are maintained in cooler, prep area, freezer, and cases and are in working condition
  • Identify all cuts of meat
  • Maintain adequate meat supplies
  • Maintain proper case conditions, including cleaning, stocking, straightening, and rotating product
  • Follow direction of Meat Manager and Manager on Duty, inform appropriate people if problems arise
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Minors may work in a stocking capacity only on the sales floor.  They are not allowed to enter the meat room production area. 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
  • Possess basic computer skills
  •  Possess strong communication skills
