Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) seeks a knowledgeable and dynamic Economics and Mathematics Teacher to join our Grades 7โ€“12 faculty. Position Overview

The Economics and Mathematics Teacher is responsible for implementing Mystic Valley Regional Charter Schoolโ€™s Economics curriculum for students in Grades 11 and 12, while also teaching mathematics courses in Grades 7โ€“12 based on departmental needs and candidate expertise.

The teacher will deliver instruction aligned with the schoolโ€™s rigorous academic standards and, where applicable, the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework in both curriculum and methodology.

Responsibilities
  • Execute a program of study according to documented curricula and, where applicable, the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
  • Teach five subject-area classes daily, as assigned.
  • Deliver instruction using established curricula and instructional methodologies with fidelity.
  • Design and implement lessons based on clear learning objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback, progress reports, and report cards.
  • Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Department Chair and Leadership Team.
  • Collaborate weekly with colleagues and department leadership regarding curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and instructional practices.
  • Maintain a structured, orderly classroom environment through consistent implementation of the schoolโ€™s assertive discipline model.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Assistant Director.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Economics, Mathematics, or a related field required.
  • Strong academic background in both economics and mathematics preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make sound instructional decisions.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons that meet school objectives and support diverse student needs.
  • Experience evaluating student performance and interpreting assessment data preferred.
  • Demonstrated collaborative, instructional, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of content-area standards, instructional best practices, and relevant educational regulations.
  • Successful completion of applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.

This position reports to the Mathematics Department Chair and is evaluated annually.
