Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a fellowship-trained Obstetric Anesthesiologist (open rank) dedicated to outstanding clinical care, education, and academic excellence. UNC Hospitals, located on the main UNC campus in Chapel Hill, NC, is a premier academic medical center providing comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care. Our main campus serves as a Level I Trauma Center, Level IV Maternal Care Center, and is home to a Level IV NICU.
The Division of Obstetric Anesthesia is a dynamic group of nine fellowship-trained faculty who provide care for a diverse and complex patient population. Our division supports an ACGME-accredited fellowship program with one fellow per year and participates actively in resident and medical student education.UNC performs more than 4,400 deliveries annually, including a large proportion of high-risk maternal and fetal cases such as maternal cardiac disease, placenta accreta spectrum disorders, and a wide range of hematologic and neurologic conditions. We also care for patients with sickle cell disease and other complex comorbidities. 
Our team collaborates closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine colleagues in managing advanced perinatal care, including a robust fetal surgery program performing procedures such as open neural tube defect repair, fetoscopic interventions for twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and other advanced fetal procedures. We seek to expand our team with a fellowship-trained anesthesiologist who shares our commitment to clinical excellence, innovative teaching, and multidisciplinary collaboration in the care of high-risk obstetric patients. The physician will be a member of the faculty practice and there are opportunities for scholarly contribution and development.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a medical degree (MD, DO or equivalent). Must have completed an ACGME accredited Anesthesiology Residency program and be ABA certified or eligible. Completion of an ACGME accredited Obstetric Anesthesia Fellowship is required. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in North Carolina.

We seek candidates with a strong interest in academic medicine and a commitment to teaching graduate-level learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship. Applicants should be comfortable providing care independently as well as within a collaborative care team model that includes supervising fellows, residents, CRNAs, CAAs, and working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues.
