Job Description
OVERVIEW:
• The Procurement Supervisor leads a team of Material Planners who evaluate the forecasted demand of the business segments of Commercial Vehicle and Services, Original Equipment Services and Aftermarket and procure the necessary materials to support warehousing and distribution across North America.
• The Procurement Supervisor is responsible for the overall performance of the material planning department. This includes but is not limited to establishing material planning strategies and processes, monitoring material availability and inventory levels, escalation of material shortages with internal and external suppliers,
establishing the production schedule and supporting the organization to achieve common and individual goals of the Business Segments in the Allentown site.
• The Procurement Supervisor has to display a high degree of communication, coordination, and technical skills to perform their duty.
• The Procurement Supervisor interacts with suppliers, with other departments in the company, and to a high degree with other Supply Chain Management personnel throughout the Business Area.
• The Procurement Supervisor reports to the Head of Supply Chain Management within the location.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
• Disciplinary responsibility for all Material Planners at the Allentown site.
• Determine and organize daily activities and prioritize the tasks to achieve performance goals and support internal and external customer requirements
• Monitor KPI's to measure and manage the performance of the Material Planning Department, including material availability and inventory level for finished goods, buy-resell and component parts; freight cost; communicate to the team; track and monitor achievement to KPIs
• Review and analyze the material planning parameters in SAP; recognize material shortages and overages; initiate corrective actions and monitor impact to inventory levels; reduce freight cost.
• Lead monthly Volume Review Meetings with Product Management/Sales in order to meet Sales and Inventory targets; coordinate the data input to Trading Demand Planning (TDP) and the monthly forecast
• Provide problem solving resources and managing the department Manage Talent Management process for Procurement Department (goal setting, performance review, succession planning, training)
• Coach team members during critical supply issues and escalate within the organization when needed; obtain additional resources required to meet external customer's expectations
• Represent the department in meetings and be a part of the decision-making processes and interaction with all levels of Management within the company and with external business partners
• Determine project activities between suppliers and internal departments, e.g. Customer Service, Warehouse, Finance, Sales and assign responsibility to the Material Planners as appropriate/applicable
• Collaborate on projects with internal and external business partners in IT for EDI and SAP Material Management
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Act as material planner and manage certain supplier accounts as needed
• Act as key user for supplier data maintenance, TDP, MRP parameters; responsible for training on changes Initiate meetings with product management or related departments to ensure current knowledge of products/parts as it relates to the material planning function
• Implement Terms & Conditions as negotiated by Purchasing and maintain order lead-times, minimum order quantities and supplier forecast.
Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
  • Bachelor's degree OR 10 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the degree.
  • SAP experience in SAP module Material Management
  • 5 plus years' experience in Procurement / Material Planning / Material Management
  • Leadership experience
  • 10% travel domestic and international is required
