Description
VetSpace Construction Services LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Quality Control Manager (QCM) to oversee quality assurance and quality control operations for a federal construction project located in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
The Quality Control Manager will be responsible for ensuring all work complies with project specifications, contract requirements, federal regulations, safety standards, and applicable building codes. This role is critical to maintaining project quality, minimizing rework, ensuring documentation accuracy, and supporting on-time project delivery.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive construction quality management experience, and the ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, government representatives, and field personnel.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and maintain the project Quality Control Plan (QCP)
• Conduct and document the Three-Phase Control Process: Preparatory Meetings, Conduct Initial Inspections, and Follow-Up Inspections
• Perform daily quality inspections and maintain detailed inspection reports
• Ensure compliance with all contract specifications, drawings, codes, and federal regulations
• Coordinate inspections with subcontractors, vendors, and government representatives
• Review and manage submittals, RFIs, material certifications, and project documentation
• Track deficiencies and oversee corrective actions through completion
• Maintain project quality records from preconstruction through closeout, and verify workmanship and materials meet project and industry standards
• Assist with project scheduling and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce
• Rework and conduct quality audits and jobsite assessments
• Support project safety initiatives and ensure compliance with OSHA and
• EM 385-1-standards
• Participate in owner meetings, progress meetings, and coordination meetings, and
• Collaborate closely with project management and field supervision teams
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction quality control, project management, superintendent, or construction management roles
• Experience on federal, VA, USACE, or NAVFAC projects preferred
• Current Construction Quality Management (CQM) Certification for Contractors
• OSHA 30 Certification
• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and sequencing
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and submittals
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
• Valid driver's license and ability to work onsite in Iron Mountain, MI
Preferred:
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
• Experience with Procore or similar project management software
• EM 385-1-1 familiarity or certification
• Knowledge of federal quality control procedures and documentation standards
• CPR/First Aid Certification
• LEED, Six Sigma, or additional quality/safety certifications are a plus
