Job description

PROUD Team Lead

Work Schedule: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend events and after-hours work may be required based on program needs.

Program Summary: The Opioid Use Disorder Program allows Advantage Behavioral Health Systems, which provides services in a 10-county area in Northeast, Georgia, to help clients battling opioid addiction in four distinct areas, including crisis support/detox/medication assisted treatment (MAT), intensive residential and outpatient treatment, peer-led recovery support services and community outreach and education.

Position Summary: The Team Lead for PROUD is a certified CARES Recovery Coach.ย  The PROUD Team Lead provides a broad range of case management and paraprofessional social services and to clients and their families, including conducting client intakes into PROUD, coordinating medication services with the PROUD MAT Coordinator, participating in treatment team planning, and providing guidance for junior case managers on the team.ย  The PROUD Team Lead may also assist with personal and social problems facing individuals who are enrolled, and be able to provide support to consumers and families and/or serve as a liaison for social services and legal/court entities.ย  As the PROUD Team Lead, they will monitor operations of community-based treatment, in-house clinical services, services received through agency partners, coordinating needed staff trainings, and will function as a supervisor or lead worker for other paraprofessionals or PROUD Recovery Coaches.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fulfills all job requires of a Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES).
  • Creates and maintains a high performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation (Performed by some incumbents).
  • Assists with interviewing, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling, for employees; communicating job expectations; adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Works with Program Manager to motivate staff to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provides training and development opportunities as appropriate.
  • Coordinates with MAT Coordinator and Recovery Coaches for client intakes based on interviews with clients, their families, significant others and appropriate community agencies according to Agency standard; From information gathered during intake/assessment, develop or complete individual service plans and participate and provide relevant input in scheduled treatment team meetings.
  • Contacts other health care professionals within or outside the organization to obtain consumer background information in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintains pertinent client databases and spreadsheets as directed by federal, state, and agency authorities.
  • Assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources including legal, medical, financial assistance, recovery and other referral services; Develops and effectively maintains a network of appropriate community contacts;ย  Maintains contact with other social service agencies and health care providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback on client's overall progress.
  • Transports or makes arrangements for transportation of, clients to appointments in a timely manner; Schedules follow-up appointments in a timely manner to ensure services are provided; Meet with client's continuity of care representative as required.
  • Facilitate/ lead groups on relapse prevention, utilizing motivational interviewing and other recovery models.
  • Works with Program Manager to provide appropriate input in strategy or review sessions, committees, and task forces, to facilitate improve case management, collaboration, linkages and communication.
  • Advocates (if necessary) and conducts individual sessions in order to provide appropriate guidance and direction pertaining to personal and social development according to establish guidelines and standards.
  • Recognizes the need for client crisis intervention and reacts appropriately to routine situations and/or promptly notifies person on call or immediate supervisor of any crises, incidents or unusual situations.
  • Creates, completes and signs progress notes/documentation every session/interaction collaboratively with clients according to Agency standards.
  • Attends all required training, supervision, and staff meetings within the Agency. ย 
  • May be shadowed by peers on the job.
  • Perform other departmental duties as assigned or as needed in order to not interrupt services.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and three yearsโ€™ experience in a social services related position Or Bachelor's degree in a social services related field and one year experience in a social services related position Or One year at the lower level or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelorโ€™s degree in social services or related field plus one year of related work experience.ย  Exposure to persons with addiction histories and/or persons with co-occurring disorders such as Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) along with history of addiction.

  • Solid Case Management experience
  • Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist through the Georgia Council for Recovery.
  • Strong communication skills, recovery language, motivational interviewing training, WRAP training
  • Experience in residential settings for substance abuse
  • Experience with court and legal systems
  • Experience building community groups to meet the needs of diverse populations
  • Ability to calm, de-escalate and provide consistent support for unstable clients
  • Ability to coordinate and organize delivery of services
  • Ability to interview clients and families using established techniques
  • Ability to collaborate with other treatment providers to develop client treatment plans to include recovery goals and basic needs (e.g. housing, social, education, vocational, family)
  • Intermediate knowledge of bio-psychosocial (BPS) aspects of behavioral health in order to fully participate in treatment team meetings and treatment delivery
  • Intermediate knowledge of substance abuse treatment models to educate and relay or clarify information when indicated
  • Ability to develop, implement and facilitate agency and community workshops on addiction, treatment and recovery
  • Ability to assess what training is needed.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:ย 

  • Must have valid Georgia driverโ€™s license.
  • Must be eligible forย Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist through the Georgia Council for Recovery.
