Job description

The Saint Mary's College Cushwa-Leighton Library invites applications for an adjunct librarian (instruction and reference, part time) for the first half of the Fall 2026 semester.ย 

Qualifications:
ย 

  • ALA-accredited Master of Library Science or equivalent degree, or significant progress toward degree with appropriate instruction-related coursework or experience.
  • Experience teaching course-integrated ("one-shot") library instruction sessions to undergraduate students.

Responsibilities:

Teach a portion of the library's one-shot library instruction sessions to introductory-level classes, primarily in Communication, English, and/or Education, including:

  • Communicate with classroom faculty prior to the session, teach the session, and follow up with faculty afterwards.
  • Be available to students for individual consultations (in person or online) as needed.
  • Core job functions will take place during the first eight weeks of the semester: Aug. 24 - Oct. 16, 2026.
  • The specific schedule of sessions will be determined by late August. All sessions will be scheduled Monday-Thursday between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm.

Additional duties, to be determined based on the successful candidate's background and experience, may be added depending on the instruction load and time available.
