What is a marketing operations manager?

A marketing operations manager supervises marketing department staff to maintain productivity and smooth operations. Unlike a marketing project manager who focuses on a particular marketing campaign, a marketing operations manager oversees the overall marketing department and ensures the staff meets their goals. Job duties include evaluating market trends to develop new marketing strategies, creating department goals, delegating project tasks to employees, and training new marketing employees. Qualifications for this career include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, extensive marketing experience, and leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a marketing operations manager?

To thrive as a Marketing Operations Manager, you need expertise in marketing strategy, data analysis, project management, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (like HubSpot or Marketo), CRM systems, and analytics tools is typically required, along with certifications such as Salesforce or Google Analytics. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help drive cross-functional collaboration and process optimization. These skills ensure seamless marketing execution, data-driven decision-making, and alignment between marketing initiatives and overall business objectives.

What are some common challenges faced by marketing operations managers when aligning marketing technology with organizational goals?

Marketing Operations Managers often encounter challenges when ensuring that marketing technology stacks effectively support broader business objectives. Integrating new tools with existing systems, maintaining data accuracy across platforms, and securing buy-in from cross-functional teams can be complex. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving marketing technologies while balancing cost and utility requires ongoing attention. Successful Marketing Operations Managers proactively communicate with stakeholders, regularly evaluate tech performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to address these hurdles.

We've built a product customers love and a business that's scaling quickly, backed by world-class investors and driven by rapid AI innovation across multiple product lines.

At Aircall, you'll join a company in motion. We're ambitious, product-driven, and execution-focused, with visible impact, fast decisions, and real growth.

How we work at Aircall: We're customer-obsessed, data-driven, and focused on delivering meaningful outcomes. We value ownership, continuous learning, and thoughtful speed. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where trust and impact matter, you'll feel at home here.

About the Role

Aircall is looking for a Senior Marketing Operations Manager to serve as the technical backbone of Aircall's Marketing and GTM organizations. You will own the architecture, integrity, and evolution of our marketing technology stack, from lead scoring/routing and attribution to workflow automation. You will be the go-to person for how our systems are built, how data flows between them, and how we make them smarter and more efficient over time.

This IC role will be the primary technical counterpart to the Director of Marketing Strategy & Operations, reporting into the RevOps organization. You will partner closely with Marketing, GTM Systems, Data Science, and Sales stakeholders. You will work with our Growth and AI Automations teams to identify, build, and ship automation opportunities across the funnel. This is a rare opportunity to be the technical architect behind a modern, AI-forward Marketing Operations function, with real ownership over technical decisions to shape the next phase of Aircall's Marketing and GTM engine.

What You'll Own

  • The technical architecture and roadmap for Aircall's Marketing technology stack, including HubSpot, Salesforce, and adjacent systems
  • Marketing Ops execution end-to-end: from requirements gathering to build, QA, and rollout
  • Lead scoring, routing, and assignment logic across Marketing and Sales — you will lead a full revamp of how leads and accounts are routed and assigned
  • Attribution strategy: designing, building, and maintaining multi-touch attribution models that the business trusts
  • Data structure and architecture decisions that affect how Marketing, RevOps, Sales, and Data Science interact with shared systems
  • Business outcomes & key metrics: routing accuracy, lead to pipeline conversion, marketing sourced and influenced pipeline, marketing spend efficiency,

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical decision-maker for the Marketing stack, setting standards for how systems are configured, integrated, and maintained
  • Design and deploy attribution models, ensuring methodology is sound, documented, and defensible to Marketing and Sales stakeholders
  • Own lead scoring model development in partnership with Data, covering scoring, routing/assignment, and tracking of leads end-to-end
  • Architect and maintain the data structures underlying lead, contact, account, and opportunity objects across HubSpot and Salesforce, ensuring clean, reliable data flow between systems
  • Redesign and own lead/account routing and assignment rules, partnering with Sales Ops and GTM Systems to reduce speed-to-lead and routing errors
  • Partner with Growth and AI Automations to identify and build automation opportunities across enrichment, workflows, chatbot/agent experiences, and intent signal capture
  • Act as the technical counterpart to Data Science and Systems teams on modeling, data quality, and reporting infrastructure needs
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new MarTech tools, building the business case and integration plan for each
  • Build scalable documentation (SOPs, architecture diagrams, data dictionaries), so systems knowledge isn't siloed
  • Enable Marketing to scale campaign velocity and expand self-serve capabilities across the stack
  • Partner directly with the Director of Marketing Strategy & Operations as a technical thought partner on stack strategy, prioritization, and roadmap

Must-Have Qualifications

  • HubSpot certification(s) with strong, hands-on production experience administering and architecting HubSpot at scale
  • Salesforce expertise with strong, hands-on production experience administering and architecting Salesforce at scale
  • Proven experience developing and deploying attribution models (multi-touch attribution or comparable methodologies) in a B2B or SaaS environment
  • Deep understanding of data structure and architecture, including object relationships, data flow, APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns between marketing and CRM systems
  • Track record of cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, GTM Systems, Data Science, and Sales stakeholders
  • Experience owning lead routing/assignment logic and related Sales-Marketing handoff processes
  • Comfortable operating as a technical owner and decision-maker, not just an implementer
Base salary range:
$150,000—$180,000 USD
