Marketing Operations Manager information

What is a marketing operations manager?

A marketing operations manager supervises marketing department staff to maintain productivity and smooth operations. Unlike a marketing project manager who focuses on a particular marketing campaign, a marketing operations manager oversees the overall marketing department and ensures the staff meets their goals. Job duties include evaluating market trends to develop new marketing strategies, creating department goals, delegating project tasks to employees, and training new marketing employees. Qualifications for this career include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, extensive marketing experience, and leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a marketing operations manager?

To thrive as a Marketing Operations Manager, you need expertise in marketing strategy, data analysis, project management, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (like HubSpot or Marketo), CRM systems, and analytics tools is typically required, along with certifications such as Salesforce or Google Analytics. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help drive cross-functional collaboration and process optimization. These skills ensure seamless marketing execution, data-driven decision-making, and alignment between marketing initiatives and overall business objectives.

What are some common challenges faced by marketing operations managers when aligning marketing technology with organizational goals?

Marketing Operations Managers often encounter challenges when ensuring that marketing technology stacks effectively support broader business objectives. Integrating new tools with existing systems, maintaining data accuracy across platforms, and securing buy-in from cross-functional teams can be complex. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving marketing technologies while balancing cost and utility requires ongoing attention. Successful Marketing Operations Managers proactively communicate with stakeholders, regularly evaluate tech performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to address these hurdles.

The Role

As a Demand Generation Manager at Elantis, you'll be responsible for:

Demand Generation & Growth Marketing:

  • Own and execute Elantis' demand generation strategy to drive qualified leads, sales-ready opportunities, and pipeline growth.
  • Design, launch, and optimize multi-channel campaigns across email, paid media, content, webinars, events, and website experiences.
  • Develop and manage campaign frameworks including personas, buyer journeys, offers, nurture streams, and conversion paths.
  • Partner with Sales to align on ICP, lead qualification criteria, handoffs, and feedback loops to improve conversion rate and velocity.
  • Build and manage marketing automation programs, including lead scoring, segmentation, nurturing, and lifecycle reporting.
  • Optimize landing pages, forms, CTAs, and lead magnets to improve conversion rates.
  • Collaborate with content, sales, and subject matter experts to create assets that support awareness, consideration, and decision stages.
  • Plan and execute demand-focused events (webinars, trade shows, virtual sessions), including promotion and post-event follow-up.
  • Manage and analyze campaign and funnel performance; deliver actionable insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Own and report on core demand metrics including MQLs, SQLs, pipeline contribution, cost per lead, and ROI.

Marketing Operations & Analytics:

  • Maintain clean, reliable data across CRM and marketing automation platforms.
  • Build dashboards and reporting to track performance by channel, campaign, and funnel stage.
  • Test, iterate, and refine campaigns using A/B testing and performance insights.
  • Stay current on demand generation best practices, tools, and B2B growth strategies.

CrossFunctional Collaboration & Culture:

  • Act as a strategic partner to Sales, contributing to revenue planning, forecasting, and quarterly goals.
  • Support Elantis culture by collaborating effectively, proactively solving problems, and continuously improving how marketing supports growth.
  • Contribute to marketing planning, budget input, and prioritization based on performance data.

Here are some of the skills we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in B2B marketing with strong specialization in demand generation or growth marketing.
  • Proven experience driving measurable results across the funnel - from lead to opportunity to secured revenue.
  • Hands-on expertise with marketing automation and lead lifecycle management.
  • Experience using Dynamics 365 as a CRM.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into action.
  • Experience working closely with Sales teams in a revenue-aligned model.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling offers and campaign messaging.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously.
  • Experience in technology, consulting, or professional services is a strong asset.
  • Post-secondary education in marketing, business, or a related field.
