Agronomy Technology Technician
Department: Agronomy
Reports to: Agronomy Marketing Manager
Position Summary
The Agronomy Technology Technician is responsible for advancing the use of technology across the agronomy division. This role supports the sales team, agronomy locations, and customers by ensuring precision ag tools, automated systems, and digital platforms are effectively implemented, maintained, and optimized.
The ideal candidate combines agronomic knowledge, strong technical/computer skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of audiences.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct internal and customer-facing meetings related to agronomy technology, product updates, and system capabilities
  • Manage and support automated agronomy systems, including precision agriculture tools, data platforms, and application technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and field technology systems
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for agronomy technology support across Ag-Land agronomy locations
  • Train employees and customers on the use of precision ag tools and digital solutions such as MyFS Agronomy
  • Collaborate with agronomy, operations, and sales teams to improve efficiency and service delivery
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance agronomic performance and operational effectiveness
  • Ensure accurate data collection, integration, and reporting across platforms
  • Maintain strong relationships with technology vendors and service providers
  • Assist with the implementation and rollout of new systems, updates, and upgrades

Preferred Skills
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Excel and other software platforms
  • Experience with ag data platforms and automation systems
  • Familiarity with equipment technology and application controllers
  • Knowledge of agronomic practices and crop production
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Technology, Precision Agriculture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in agronomy, precision agriculture, or ag technology support
  • Strong understanding of precision ag systems, including GPS, variable-rate technology, and data management platforms
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel independently within the territory
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons as needed
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) and Commercial Applicator certifications.
  • Physical and environmental requirements:
    • Lift 51-75 lbs.
    • Exposure to extreme weather (hot, cold, wet).
    • Exposure to noisy, dusty, or chemical environments (with proper safety measures).
    • May be required to work at varying heights.
