We are seeking a Marketing Intern for the 2026-27 academic year at the Barnes & Noble College retail store in The Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore. This position provides an outstanding opportunity to gain hands-on marketing experience in a dynamic retail setting. The intern will develop key skills in marketing analytics, content creation, branding, and human-centered design. Responsibilities include supporting a range of marketing initiatives aimed at promoting our bookstore and enriching the student experience.

  • Digital and Print Content Creation: Collaborate with the marketing team to plan, create, and execute engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) while maintaining a consistent online presence.
  • On-Campus Student Experience: Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns and on-campus student engagement initiatives, including digital marketing, social media, email marketing, and event promotion. Coordinate and support two student-driven engagement events each year to foster campus connections and elevate the student experience.
  • Experiential Marketing Support: Support the promotion of in-house events (e.g., book signings, author visits, and student discount programs) through web, email, digital advertising, and regional marketing strategies.
  • Proposal Development: With direction from the Marketing Manager, draft and develop a comprehensive proposal outlining an optimized marketing strategy and its potential impact on the bookstore’s brand and consumer engagement.
  • Research & Analysis: Support the Marketing Manager by researching marketing trends, industry best practices, and customer engagement strategies to help inform marketing initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to ensure the project aligns with the bookstore’s overall marketing objectives.
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

  • Current undergraduate student at the University of Notre Dame, pursuing a degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content for different platforms.
  • Proficient in social media management and knowledgeable about current digital marketing trends.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva) is a plus.
  • Prior marketing or retail experience is desirable, but not required.

The hiring rate for this position is $15 per hour.

This is a part-time position requiring 15-20 hours per week with an on-site work structure. The role offers the option to work remotely one day per week to accommodate academic schedules and scholarship commitments.
